Good Return- Economic Education and Livelihood skills for Economically disadvantaged Women in Nepal, supported by World Education Nepal.
The project was implemented with the partnership of World Education Australia( financial support) , World Education Nepal-( Technical support) , Nirdhan NGO and Nirdhan Utthan Bank Limited(implementing partner) to uplift the livelihood skills through economic education of 900 economically disadvantaged women in Rupendehi(300) , Jhapa(300) and Ilam (300).The duration of the project is for the period of 9 Months (1November 2009 to 31 October 2010).
Project Goal: women microfinance clients empowered to improve their livelihoods through enhanced skills and knowledge.
Project Objectives:
Objective 1 – Women clients of Dalit and minority groups with improved literacy and numeracy skills and economic awareness.
Objective 2 – Women clients developing skills and actively pursuing livelihood opportunities.
Objective 3 – Nirdhan will have enhanced capacity to plan, deliver and monitor a training program to strengthen the economic and livelihood activities of its poorest women borrowers, with the support of community facilitators.
| Targets | Achievements |
| 1. Basic Literacy class Training | 12 participants (2 NUBL staffs, 9 facilitators and 1 supervisor) have received Basic literacy training in Rupendehi districts. |
| 2. Basic Literacy classes | 250 participants are involving in literacy classes in 10 centres of NUBL Bhairhawa Branch (25 in each centre) of Rupendehi district Siddharth Municipality, Benipur and Marchhuwa VDCs). |
| 3. TOT for Livelihood workshop | 21 participants (3 NUBL branch Managers, & from Illam, 6 from Jhapa and 6 from Bhairhawa) have received TOT for Livelihood workshop in Nari Bikash Sanga ,Bargachi , Biratnagar. |
| 4.Livelihood Workshops | 900 participants are selected for livelihood workshop in Rupendehi (300), Jhapa(300) and Illam(300). The workshops are starting in these districts. |
