Book Launch – Samriddhiko Margama 2080 (Collection of Members’ Success Stories)

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation organized, 8th Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Memorial Day on 7th September 2023. The chief guest was former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Mr. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, Executive Director of Microfinance Institution Supervision Department of Nepal Rastra Bank Mr. Revati Prasad Nepal, Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, Bank and Financial Institutions Regulation Department. Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, Mr. Harikrishna Pant, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Director of Nirdhan Sanstha Prof. Dr. Fatt Bahadur K.C. released the book “Samriddhiko Margama 2080”, a collection of business success stories of the best small entrepreneurs.

Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, Mr. Harikrishna Pant, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Director of Nirdhan Sanstha Prof. Dr. Fatta Bahadur K.C. released the book “Samriddhiko Margama 2080”, a collection of business success stories of the best small entrepreneurs.

In the program, the chief guest Former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mr. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa opined that in the field of microfinance in Nepal, Dr. Pant’s role is incomparable. He said that if you want to pay true contribution to Pant, you have to follow the path taken by him.

At the event, the director of Nirdhan NGO, Prof. Dr. Fatta Bahadur K.C., said that Dr. Pant’s economic vision made it possible to uplift the livening standard of the deprived class. He opined that, a genuine tribute to Dr. Pant can only be possible if we all work together to over the difficulties we are facing now.

The Chief Guest of the program, Executive Director of Microfinance Institution Supervision Department of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mr. Revati Prasad Nepal recalled a memorable encounter with Dr. Pant that occurred approximately 14 years ago while conducting a monitoring of financial institution, Dr. Pant advocated for the provision of microfinance services to be directed towards the economically disadvantaged group rather than the affluent.

 In the program, Chief Guest of the program, Nepal Rastra Bank, Executive Director of Banks and Financial Institutions Regulation Department, Mr Gunakar Bhatta, expressed that the contribution of Dr. Pant to the micro finance sector will always be remembered and he was true monetary economist and first PHD holder of monetary economics of Nepal. Within the current scenario of global crisis also Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited is transforming people’s lives with the use of experimental economics and financial services.

In the same program other guests, the chairperson of Centre for Microfinance (CMF), Dr. Rewat Bahadur Karki, the chairperson of Microfinance Association of Nepal – MFAN, Mr. Jagat Bahadur Pokherel, the President of SEJON, Mr. Sujan Oli, and the chairperson of Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation, Mr. Janardhan Dev Pant expressed their gratitude to follow the path shown by the father of microfinance in Nepal.

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Outstanding Micro-Entrepreneur Prize 2080 organized by Nirdhan NGO was presented to the outstanding micro-entrepreneurs from all seven provinces so as to encourage the micro-entrepreneurs engaged in the micro-entrepreneurship enhancing their self-confidence

 

Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Khadka, Vice Chairman of Kummayak rural muncipality, from Koshi Province handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award to Mrs. Bishnu Darji (Tailoring and Pig Farming) from Panchthar district, Yasok selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Koshi Province .
Honorable Minister, Mr. Saroj Kumar Yadav from Madesh Province handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Rambati Devi Sah (Aluminum, Glass house and Steel Udhyog) from Dhanusha District, Dhanushadham selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Madesh Province.

Mr. Shyam Raja Mahat, the state assembly member of Gandaki Province and Mr. Raj Kumar Wagle, ward chairman of suklagandaki 4, Tanahun handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Bhuwan Siri Gurung of Dulegauda, Tanahun (Commercial Buffalo farming, Coffee Shop and Dairy) selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Gandaki Province.
Mr. Dhurba Prasad Kharel Mayor of Devdaha Muncipality and Mr. Yagya Prasad Aryal, chairman of ward no 3, Lumbini Province handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award  with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Sunkasari Choudhary (Furniture Udhyog) of Sitalnagar, Rupandehi district selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Lumbini Province.
Honorable, Mrs. Laxmi Sunar, Parliament assembly member of Karnali Province handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Tara Nepali (Kirana Shop) of Salli Bazar. Salyan district , the successful micro-entrepreneur selected as the as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Karnali Province .

 

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Academic Excellence Award

Nirdhan NGO started distributing Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Academic Excellence Award to the two best students of Masters in Economics and Masters in Rural Development graduated from Tribhuvan University.

As such, Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Academic Excellence Award was presented to Mr. Rohan Byanjankar with the cash prize of Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter from our Guest, the Director of Nirdhan NGO, Prof. Dr. Fatta Bahadur K.C. Mr. Rohan Byanjankar topped his 2018-20 batch in Master’s in Monitory Economics from Tribhuvan University with a total mark of 3.85 SGPA

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award

The economic journalism award was established in memory of late Dr Harihar Dev Pant, a pioneer and ‘Founding Father’ of microfinance in Nepal. He was the first promoter of microfinance and was dedicated to economic development and poverty alleviation. The foundation has been giving the award to one of the best economic journalists or an association or organisation every year. Previously, the economic journalism award was given to the Society of Economic Journalists-Nepal (SEJON), Mr. Gokarna Awasthi of Kantipur Daily and Mr. Bishnu Belbase of Nagarik Daily, Mrs. Eliza Upreti, senior business correspondent of ratopati.com, Mrs Mamta Thapa, correspondent of Annapurna Daily and Mr. Bijay Raj Khanal , Senior Economic Correspondent of Setopati.com respectively. The journalists as the fourth estate have contributed significantly in the overall development of the country as well as in the development of the economic sector informing well the general mass through various newspaper, radio, television, online news, and feature articles.

In the above context, Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award operated by Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation has been presented to Kantipur Daily journalist Mr. Yagya Banjade. The award comprised of NPR 50 thousand and a letter of appreciation was handed over by the Chairperson of Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation, Mr. Janardan Dev Pant.
