2022 AWARDS ORGANISED BY NIRDHAN NGO DATED SEPTEMBER 6, 2022.

 

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation organized the Seventh Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Memorial Day on Tuesday, 6th September 2022. The program was chaired by Mr. Sharad Nidhi Tiwari, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. The Chief Guest, the Deputy Governor and Acting Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina had inaugurated the program. In the program, the NRB Deputy Governor, Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Special Guest Former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa launched the book entitled “Samriddhiko Margama 2079” (a collection of Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited members’ success stories).

The Chief Guest Dr. Timsina, speaking after inaugural of the book shared that the stories and topics covered in the book are much valuable. She expressed that the efforts of late Dr. Harihar Dev Pant have helped much in uplifting the living standard of the people in the rural areas. Many individuals have opted for entrepreneurship due to the services of the microfinance institutions, Dr.Timsina opined. She expressed her gratitude towards Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited for publishing the success stories in the book form. She also requested all the members to use the loan in the productive sector. She further expressed that Dr. Pant has guided all of us on this path. 

In the program, the Former Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mr. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa opined that the microfinance plays an important role and that the central bank and the government should thus keep the microfinance sector in high priority. He wished that the microfinance services become the basis of livelihood of the deprived class in the rural areas. He shared that, late Dr. Harihar Dev Pant is an exemplary personality and his contribution towards financial sector is unforgettable.

In the program, the director of Nirdhan NGO, Prof. Dr. Fatta Bahadur K.C. expressed that the contribution of late Dr. Harihar Dev Pant towards the microfinance sector is unforgettable. He opined that, due to the efforts of late Dr. Pant, the living standard of the deprived class has now been uplifted.

 

In the same program other guests, the chairperson of Nirdhan Utthan Lagahubitta Bittiya Sanstha, Mr. Sarad Nidhi Tiwari, the chairperson of Microfinance Association of Nepal – MFAN, Mr. Jagat Bahadur Pokherel, the President of SEJON, Mr. Janardan Baral, the President of Nepal Microfinance Bankers Association, Mr. Prakash Raj Sharma and the chairperson of Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation, Mr Janardhan Dev Pant expressed their  gratitude to follow the path shown by the father of microfinance in Nepal.

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Outstanding Micro-Entrepreneur Prize 2079 organized by Nirdhan NGO was presented to the outstanding micro-entrepreneurs from all seven provinces so as to encourage the micro-entrepreneurs engaged in the micro-entrepreneurship enhancing their self-confidence.

Honorable Minister Mr. Om Prakash Sarbagi from Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation from Province 1 handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award to Mrs. Gita Devi Sah (Tapari Udhyog) from Beltar, Udhayapur, selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Province 1.

 

Mrs. Laxmi Kumari Choudhary, Deputy Mayor of Kohalbi Municipality handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Shanti Devi Choudhary (Buffalo, Goat, Duck and Poultry Farming) from Kohalbi, Bara , selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Madesh Province.  

Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina, the Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Sanu Maiya Sharki (Bag Udhyog), the successful micro-entrepreneur from Thecho, Lalitpur, selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Bagmati Province.

Mr. Suresh Ranabhat, Chairperson of Ward No.15 of Devchuli Municipality handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Sharda Poudel of Daldale, Nawalparasi (Commercial Cow farming and Dairy ) selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Gandaki Province.

Honorable Minister, Mr. Indrajit Tharu Minister for Health, Population and Family Welfare of Lumbini Province handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award  with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Karamkashi Choudhary (Vegetable and Pig farming) of Sisahaniya, Dang district selected as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Lumbini Province.

Honorable Minister, Mrs. Krishna Shah Acharya, Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning  of Karnali Province handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Gita Nepali (Garment Udhyog) , the successful micro-entrepreneur selected as the as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Karnali Province .

Mrs. Rekha Devi Kathariya Vice Chairperson of Joshipur Rural Municipality handing over Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Micro-Entrepreneurship Award with the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter to Mrs. Ayodhya Devi Dagaura (Commercial Banana farming), the successful micro-entrepreneur selected as the as the best micro-entrepreneurs in Sudurpaschim Province.

As such, Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Academic Excellence Award was presented to Mr. Jeevan Pokhrel with the cash prize of Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter from our Special Guest and the Former Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Ganesh Bahadur Thapa. Mr. Jeevan Pokhrel topped his 2016-17 batch in Master’s in Monitory Economics from Tribhuvan University with a total mark of 3.7 SGPA.

Likewise, Mrs. Diksha Rana was awarded with the Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Academic Excellence Award and the prize money Rs. 50 thousand along with an appreciation letter from the Director of Nirdhan NGO, Prof. Dr. Fatta Bahadur K.C. Mrs. Diksha Rana topped her 2016-17 batch of Master’s in Rural Development from Tribhuvan University with a total mark of 3.65 SGPA.

Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation – established in memory of the first promoter of microfinance Dr. Harihar Dev Pant who sacrificed most of his life in economic development and poverty reduction in the country – had decided to present Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award to one distinguished economic journalist or organization/institution on the Seventh memorial day of Dr. Pant on 6th September 2022. The journalists as the fourth estate have contributed significantly in the overall development of the country as well as in the development of the economic sector informing well the general mass through various newspaper, radio, television, online news, and feature articles.

In the above context, Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Economic Journalism Award operated by Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation has been presented to Senior Economic Correspondent of Setopati.com, Mr. Bijaya Raj Khanal. The award comprised of NPR 50 thousand and a letter of appreciation was handed over by the Chairperson of Dr. Harihar Dev Pant Foundation, Mr. Janardan Dev Pant.
