Nirdhan Empowers Women Entrepreneurs through Mushroom Farming Training in Dhading

Dhading Besi, Dhading – Nirdhan successfully organized a 2-Day Mushroom Farming Training Program for 28 microfinance clients in Nilkantha Municipality, Dhading District, with the objective of promoting sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and income-generating opportunities through commercial mushroom cultivation.

The training was designed to equip participants—primarily women entrepreneurs and rural households—with practical knowledge and technical skills to establish mushroom farming as an additional source of household income.

The program was inaugurated by Mr. Raj Kumar Shrestha, Ward Chairperson of Nilkantha Municipality Ward No. 3, who appreciated Nirdhan’s continued efforts in empowering local communities through entrepreneurship and financial inclusion. In his remarks, he highlighted the increasing market demand for nutritious mushrooms and encouraged participants to apply the skills gained from the training to improve their livelihoods.

The technical sessions were facilitated by Mr. Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel, an experienced mushroom farming trainer. During the first day, participants received comprehensive theoretical instruction covering different mushroom varieties, their nutritional value, suitable climatic conditions, cultivation requirements, quality spawn selection, disease prevention, production planning, and market opportunities.

The second day focused on practical learning through hands-on demonstrations of Kanye (Oyster) Mushroom cultivation. Participants actively engaged in every stage of the production process, including straw selection and preparation, sterilization, moisture management, spawn inoculation, and proper bag filling techniques under the close guidance of the trainer. The practical sessions enabled participants to gain the confidence and skills required to initiate mushroom production independently.

The training concluded with a closing ceremony attended by Mr. Janardan Dev Pant, Vice Chairman of Nirdhan, as the Special Guest. In his closing remarks, he encouraged participants to transform the knowledge acquired during the training into sustainable enterprises. He emphasized that commercial mushroom farming has the potential to strengthen household income, improve nutrition, and contribute to local economic development.Certificates of completion were awarded to all 28 participants in recognition of their successful participation and commitment throughout the training.Through this initiative, Nirdhan continues to promote livelihood enhancement by building the technical capacity of its clients and supporting them in adopting sustainable, climate-friendly, and income-generating agricultural practices. The organization remains committed to empowering rural communities by creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, financial resilience, and long-term economic development.
