About the Project

The WE CARE Project aims to strengthen inclusive, gender-responsive, and resilient community health systems in Banke, Bardiya and Dang district of Lumbnin province of Nepal. The project focuses on improving access to quality health services for women, adolescents, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities through community-based approaches.

Project Objectives

• Improve access to gender-equitable health services • Empower communities to actively participate in health planning and decision-making • Strengthen climate-resilient and shock-responsive health systems • Build the capacity of Nirdhan Health Facilitators (NHFs) and Supervisors Key Focus Areas • Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child & Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) • Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHH) • Family Planning and Adolescent Nutrition • Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) • Community health education and referral systems • Health insurance enrollment awareness • Climate and disaster resilience at community level

Implementation Approach

The project is implemented through trained Nirdhan Health Facilitators who conduct household visits, community awareness sessions, referrals, and follow-ups. The project works in close coordination with local governments, health facilities, and community organizations toensuresustainability and local ownership.

SWC Approval for WE CARE Project

Nirdhan, head office in Naxal, Kathmandu, has successfully obtained approval from the Social Welfare Council (SWC) dated 2082.03.32 for the implementation of the WE CARE Project. This approval marks a significant milestone in strengthening community-based health awareness services with a strong focus on gender equality, social inclusion, and resilience building.

About the Approval Process

The approval process involved formal consultations, presentations, and review meetings with SWC officials. During these engagements, Nirdhan presented the objectives, implementation strategy, and governance mechanisms of the WE CARE Project, demonstrating compliance with national regulations and alignment with Nepal’s development priorities.

Consultation and Review Meetings

A series of meetings were conducted at Nirdhan’s office and with relevant stakeholders, local government authorities, where project plans, financial compliance, and implementation modalities were discussed in detail and no objection letters also collected from Rural Municipalities, Sub Metropolitan and Municipalities. The meetings reflected strong collaboration and shared commitment toward improving access to equitable health services.
