Commercial Poultry Farming Training Program at Dang, Sisahaniya Branch.

The training program was conducted at Sisahaniya, Dang from 20th April to 22th April 2024 for three days. The program was facilitated by Mr. Damodar Acharya and Mr.Kamal Pun Magar as a trainers. The ward Chairman  of Rapti Rural Municipality-8, Dang District Mr. Chandra Bahadur Gurung, branch manager of the Sisahaniya, Dang branch of Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited Mr. Sanjay Chaudhary, Regional Program officer of Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited Mr. Buddhi Prasad Ghimire, among others were present in the event.

During the training program, the women gained an understanding and appreciation of poultry farming and why it’s an excellent source of livelihood. They learned from the basic aspects, such as different types and characteristics of chickens—to more practical and advanced knowledge, like area calculations for chicken nests, ventilation process, bulb processing, and setting up the adequate temperature for poultry farming. We also taught them about organization and quality control by bookkeeping and identifying healthy male and female chickens to keep a sustainable poultry farm.

The women who participated never had formal poultry training sessions like this before. That’s why they participated in every activity with dedication and enthusiasm. However, not all participants are completely new to this. A few have been involved in large-scale poultry farming in the past, but even they were unaware of different fowl diseases and medications. We tackled these gaps in knowledge by informing them of different types of chicken diseases, their symptoms, and prevention techniques.

With these newfound learnings in mind, these women now have more options to improve their and their family’s lives. We concluded the 3-day training with the distribution of certificates.
