Goat Farming Training Program at Phidim, Panchthar.

Nirdhan organized a three-day goat farming training for prospective member clients as part of an entrepreneurial development program from January 23 to 25, 2024, at Phidim Branch, Panchthar District. In the inaguratgion pf program, the chief guest was Mr. Mitra Prasad Kafle Mayor of Phidim Municipality-1, Panchthar District and Special Guest was Mr Gajadhar Bhattarai Chairman of Ward 1 Phidim Municipality-1, Panchthar District.(27) Twenty-seven Micro Finance Members attended the training. The trainer Dr. Manoj K Mahato chief of Pasu Sewa Karyalaya, Phidim, Mr. Niraj K Bhattarai  and Mr Puspa Nepali had both input theoretical sessions based on practices in various locations to give a first-hand experience in the training program. The main topics discussed in training program were significance of goats, the characteristics that differentiate them from one to other domestic animals, the scope and nature of goat industries, Selection of an appropriate goat breeds for specific purposes, How goats are breed?, Manage an appropriate diet for a goat, How to identify a sick goat?, Common health issues that can affect goats; their prevention and treatment, Facilities needed, and husbandry tasks that need to be undertaken for the management of a goat, Kidding and raising kids, Commercial farming for goat meat and other products and Viable plans for goat rearing.

At the end of the session, participants expressed how beneficial they found it to be, expressed a desire to get more training of this kind in the future, and pledged to share what they had learned with their friends and family. They were grateful for Nirdhan’s efforts in expanding their knowledge and conveying the goat farming expertise. They concluded by thanking Nirdhan for all of their help, support for providing rural women with a means of economic independence.
